I knew Les over many years. He bought a dairy farm and built it into a successful operation with his wife Pauline.Les was a very talented person and could repair anything. As well he had a wonderful sense of humor and will be missed by the farming community along with Norman Lamming and David Croskery who also left us in the last few years.too early.Bob Courtney

I worked with Arnold at Adams Welding when we were both young and carefree.I recall us buying beer and taking it to the Finnish steambath on Huron St on Fridays after work, getting rid of the weeks welding grime, drinking the beer, then going out on the town.Arnold was as already said "not here for a long time, but a good time".Bob Courtney,St Joseph Island.

I am sorry to hear of your passing. You were instrumental in helping many young people learn to care for and ride horses through your efforts at the Sault Ste Marie pony club and many events.Your life in the Sault benefitted many people not just in the horse aspect but in future development and values. The "old grey mayor" as some people called him in later years was an asset to the community,to the legal profession,a person who never put his own interests ahead of others.I can attest to that personally. Bob Courtney

Nino used to hunt on our bushlot on St.Joseph Island with his friend Nick. The deal was we went to their trailer in deer season for a home-cooked Italian meal along with lots of locally made wine from California grapes.Nino was an entertainer, his stories ,always in barely understandable English are treasured in our memories. This man was the epitomy of the Italian, warm, humorous, understanding, and considerate of others both human and animate. Read the original article. It is about the regulating of the use of and transport of live bait in Ontario. This is very necessary. We all know of brook trout lakes that have been taken taken over by perch which were mingled in with the minnows. What bothers me is that one particular individual is using this media to promote his cause about access to crown land. These posts which are totally unrelated to the live bait issue should be removed by the Sootoday moderator.

There must be someone new at the Environment Canada weather forecasting in Sault Ste Marie, because this year in east Algoma we farmers are crying for rain.Yet every time there is a possibility of precipitation they issue these severe flooding warnings and we don't get enough to we the ground.Today I got 7 mm(1/4").I use the US NOAA forecast when I want to make a decision and their radar seems to always function unlike ours at Montreal River which is frequently out of commission.

I may seem old fashioned but perhaps climbing the hill would be good exercise and burn off those nacho chips calories instead of storing them as fat.Any kind of tow creates severe liability on the operator(the city). Its worked for years, leave it alone.
