Signs of spring found on the back of a stoat (3 reader photos)

Loyal SooToday reader Lorain Barker has been watching stoats over winter and recently took these pictures of one with reddish-brown patches on its back, a sure sign that spring is actually on its way

SooToday has received the photos above from a loyal reader who has managed to find a sure sign of spring even in this snowy desolation on Thursday.

Lorain Barker says she's been watching some stoats in her yard on Fourth Line East throughout the winter.

"Apparently they are very elusive creatures so it's been very special to observe them over the winter," Lorain tells us.

Stoats are usually white (with the exception of a black tip on their tails) in winter and grow in reddish-brown coats in the spring.
