First annual Greyhounds Guardians charity game a hit

There were plenty of smiles to go around during the inaugural game

The first annual Greyhounds Guardians charity hockey game is in the books.

The game saw players and coaches with the Soo Greyhounds team up with representatives from Sault Ste. Marie Special Olympics Northeastern District for a full game experience at the GFL Memorial Gardens.

Players from the Greyhounds were split into two teams and were joined by Special Olympics players to round out the rosters.

The game included referees, in-game music, and public address announcements similar to OHL games.

The game was the conclusion of this year's Greyhounds Guardians program that saw coaches and players work with the athletes in a number of practices before Wednesday’s game.
