Due to icy weather conditions, all city transit service in Sault Ste. Marie has been cancelled for the remainder of the evening.
The safety of passengers, drivers, and staff remains the top priority as the city deals with hazardous road conditions caused by freezing rain and ice accumulation, says a news release from the city.
Residents are advised to exercise caution when travelling as roads and sidewalks may be slippery.
During a significant weather event declaration, all roads and sidewalks maintained by the city are considered to be in a “state of repair.”
Motorists should drive according to the conditions and allow space for heavy equipment operators to clear and sand roadways safely and efficiently.
