REPLAY: On the second day of Christmas, a double delivery of kindness

We surprise Addie and her family, who are spending their first holiday together after a harrowing year of medical treatments

Three-year-old Addie received news no family wants to hear: She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia just weeks before Christmas last year. She has since spent the last year traveling for treatment, away from her siblings and the comfort of home.

While Addie’s parents were ensuring she had the best possible care, her grandparents stepped up to make sure her siblings were taken care of, dropping everything to try to keep their lives as normal as possible during an unimaginably stressful time.

Addie’s grandmother Tina wrote to us to nominate her granddaughter for a Random Act of Kindness, hoping to brighten her first holiday home since the diagnosis.

Meanwhile, without her knowing, the rest of Tina’s family was nominating her for her selflessness and caring and for stepping up during a time of need for her grandchildren.

Watch as we surprise Addie, Tina and their whole family with a special surprise to celebrate their first holiday back together.

A big thank you to our generous sponsor, Adam Slumskie and team at CIBC Wood Gundy, for making this Random Act of Kindness possible.

Next year marks our 12th year of 12 Days of Christmas Random Acts of Kindness surprises. Do you want to help us give back through this program? Email us at [email protected]
