How did the City come up with this absolutely insane number for this property? It’s beyond unconscionable that this was endorsed unanimously.
What a complete inappropriate waste of our hard earned tax dollars. I’m beyond enraged about this deal, and we need to hold these elected officials accountable.

Easy decision when the City is gambling with taxpayer dollars. Under no circumstance would I ever endorse this ill- conceived plan. Why would developers want anything to do with property that will quite likely need hundred of thousands or more in an environmental assessment and any remedial action plan necessary to bring the property up to EPA standards.

Age is merely a subjective number at times, particularly in the 21st century as we are living longer, and with a much higher degree of mental and physical health.
I’m 66 and thankfully still able to do the vast majority of things from when I was in my twenties. I will add that most of us seniors are doing so with more efficiency and maturity.

This is an absolutely ill-conceived plan!! Ten million is a starting point to buy and demolish the property, as there will always be cost overruns similar to the downtown plaza. The returns outlined by Vair are all pie in the sky illogical speculation, with no assurance of real dividends being generated towards City coffers.
This is worse than the golden handshake given to the owner of the old Studio 10 property where taxpayers doled out over 400k for property that in actuality is barely worth 10% of that.
Get real guys and please get your act together and apply some degree of common sense. Unbelievable!!!

Love the north, How many innocent hard working taxpayers, and young children are unnecessarily going to be threatened, assaulted, or killed by these individuals (addicts) while we continue to coddle and encourage bad behaviour at these consumption sites?
The answer isn’t and can never be let’s give them more of what made them the mess they’re in now. The answer starts and ends with accountability, treatment, get out and work and stay working or be faced with paying the price through a working justice system, not the one that sadly exists currently in our society.

It’s a simple opinion based on much of my own research and personal beliefs. You may want to do the same before making inappropriate rude remarks. Give me a break and get over your self-righteous position on this disaster plan of using hard working taxpayer dollars to fund a flawed program.
We are all getting played as fools and Ford said he’s had enough, and quite frankly I agree.

This is a great plan to shut down these highly enabling consumption sites and going with the much more accountable HART program.

Long overdue and great to see this plan finally come to fruition!!

Great idea and I hope the City can come with a plan to force these intrusive and quite often aggressive birds to relocate elsewhere. If it’s widespread across the province it might be logical to introduce provincial legislation to cull back the numbers before it’s too late.

Singh has to put his money where his mouth is! Enough double talk from this guy. Poilievre IMO is the only one that can pull this train derailment of Liberal government actions back on track. Then he can deal with Trump trash talk accordingly and set the appropriate boundaries with their convicted felon/president. The Liberal’s 60B deficit is unconscionable and will lead this country into a financial meltdown!
