It would be cool but I’m thinking it would also cause more trouble than good. I thought about doing this to my driveway. Down side is all the melting water would pool at bottom of driveway and onto the street. So, we’re would all this melting water go? Onto the street we’re both cars and people would be skating.. So I say, however nice it would be it’s a bad waste of dollars. So how about we not do this and maybe lower property taxes or at least not raise them. Just a thought.

How about freezing and/or lowering taxes so folks can afford to live in their homes and stop blowing money. Between the government and the city many people struggle to get by… What happened to the simple Christmas lighting of Queen Street? Instead you build an 11 million dollar plaza, which a handful of people use, and left Queen Street dark… most tax payers cannot afford to keep flipping the tab for these projects and maintain their household. We’re will the over-spending stop??
This is Just my opinion…..

I did not realize Canadians were under a dictatorship… the Government allows us to Eat and Buy things, but only if we pay them 13% in Taxes. We are Allowed to Work and Earn oney to buy this food and pay them their charge of 13%. But because the government Allows us to work they want to be paid more Taxes off your earnings.
Now City Council has discovered “Hey”, We can make extra money for us to blow. Let’s Raise Property Taxes on anyone who fixes up their home, people trying to better their lives and make dollars to pay the government. I personal think the city council needs to Back Off, not everyone is Rich.. we’re just trying to make a living to survive.

Yes… I agree. The city is definitely out of control. To them it’s nothing to simply “Approve and Spend”! If they run out of dollars then simply raise taxes, the people of Sault Ste. Marie don’t mind…..

I strongly disagree with taxing AirBNB… government taxes all of us enough.. I’m sorry if Airbnb’s are taking away some big chain revenue…. Lower your rates… as for Airbnb’s, there mostly simple folks trying to make it… So No! Leave them alone and stop this Nickelling and dining people to death

I believe the city needs to back off and deal with real issues. Personally I am playing with the idea of opening a B&B when I retire to supplement our already low income. Between the government and city officials tax-tax and more tax, unless your rich you’ll not retire. Now if the city wants to simply make sure the b&b’s are safe and well maintained and not want dollars than I’m ok with that. This is my thoughts and only mine

How about giving seniors a break on property taxes so they stand a chance at living out their lives at home, instead of sitting in chairs in nursing homes... and road fixing...but no doubt you will blow it all and the want more....

You people at city hall that are trying to drain us of our money and keep us poor simply amaze me. You just keep gouging us for more and more money. Nobody I know has gotten a raise in ages, if at all. Maybe if their union or paid by the city. Most, if not all of us, are struggling to keep hold of our homes and our property. And all yours seem to want is look at ways to increase our taxes over dumb ideas and now you want new phone. Im thinking your totally out of control with spending and the people of Sault Sainte Marie need to step in and stand to gather and put an end to this....

I’m done with the city... tax, tax and pay more tax.... I say enough. They plow snow off the streets onto your properties... we should charge the city. I believe they are all way over paid and have no care level for the low/medium income people. All around the world people are fed up with governments and are protesting.... I’m thinking enough with being a passive people while the city takes more. I’m thinking it’s time to fight back and toss them all out. Just brutal... just my thoughts, fed up

I personally think it’s a waste of money. Queen Street use to be lined with lights and music, through the Christmas season. Now Queen Street has street lights and no decorations…. Other than a tree in front of the court house. Down south all small towns are Christmas lite, even a small town of Stirling, ON. Our malls use to be decorated, now they’re not. But now you want to spend tax dollars to drop a ball? We are Not, nor will we be New York. If you really have to spent money then maybe spend it on Kids…Basket Ball / Tennis/ Skate Board Courts, etc. Get the mobile and OFF Drugs. Just a thought
