It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith Ann McDowell of Sudbury, Ontario. She passed away peacefully at Health Sciences North on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the age of 74. She was surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness.
Judith was the beloved daughter of the late Vane Webb and Julia (Middlemiss) of Sault Ste. Marie. She is survived by her husband Nelson McDowell and cherished son Nathan McDowell of Sudbury. A loving sister to James Webb (Maureen) of Sault Ste. Marie. Judith will also be dearly remembered by numerous brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends.
A passionate and dedicated educator, Judith spent over 30 years teaching at S. Geiger Public School in Massey, Ontario, she made a lasting impact on countless young minds. She was deeply spiritual, finding joy in nurturing her family, friends, and students. Outside of teaching, she found great happiness intending to her beautiful flower gardens at home in Massey and at her cottage on Lake Superior. A lifelong lover of books, Judith enjoyed the fellowship and discussion from participating in several book clubs.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all the medical professionals who provided Judith with compassionate care, including Dr. Bonilla (Oncologist), Dr. Singh, the palliative management team at the Cancer Clinic, the 4th-floor North Tower Palliative Wing nursing staff at Health Sciences North, and the dedicated Bayshore nurses who visited daily to offer their support.
Judith’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
A memorial visitation at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home 233 Larch St. Greater Sudbury, friends may call Monday April 21st, 2025, from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. A memorial service at the Church of The Ascension 1476 Sparks St. Sudbury, Tuesday April 22nd, 2025, at 11:00am. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Friends may gather at the church after 10:20am Tuesday April 22nd, 2025.
