NEWS RELEASE
UNITED WAY OF SAULT STE. MARIE AND ALGOMA DISTRICT
*************************
Periods are a fact of life. For women living in poverty, there is an added challenge of acquiring monthly feminine hygiene products. The United Way of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District is focusing on reducing poverty locally. Our Community Assistance Trust Program works directly with clients to identify and remove barriers to accessing basic needs. We are excited to host our first tampon Tuesday event in Sault Ste. Marie.
Community members are invited to come together for a night of socializing, networking and supporting women. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at The Grand Theatre.
Admission to the event will be one unopened package of feminine hygiene product. No time to shop? Cash donations will be used to purchase additional product! All donations received March 6th and through our labour affiliates will be distributed to The Neighbourhood Resource Centre, Sault College & Algoma University Student Food banks, Indian Friendship Centre, Sault Ste. Marie Soup Kitchen Community Centre, Women in Crisis and Breton House.
