NEWS RELEASE
ALZHEIMER SOCIETY OF SAULT STE. MARIE AND ALGOMA DISTRICT

The Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District has rebranded the traditional fall fundraiser the Coffee Break, to Social with a Purpose.
Over the years the Coffee Break fundraiser had evolved into more than sharing a cup of coffee and making a donation for the coffee that is consumed on coffee break day. Participating hosts were very creative so rebranding the name to Social with a Purpose was very timely to “freshen” the brand, and to offer an online website to virtually collect donations during the challenging times of COVID-19.
The launch of Social with a Purpose will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, to coincide with World Alzheimer’s Month, and Social with a Purpose fundraiser is hosted virtually and can be held anytime, and for any length of time that is convenient to you.
It’s easy as 1-2-3! Visit here to register online to receive your unique donation link to share on your social media and email to your family, friends, and co-workers.
If you are not already 'Zoomed-out' from virtual meetings or get togethers, you can also send out a link to your very own Zoom party. Once you register for Social with a Purpose, you will have access to links to incorporate into your Zoom party like a paint night, sing-a-long, and cooking nights.
The power of coming together virtually and hosting a Social with a Purpose will provide those living with dementia are their care partners needed social programming and other services such as family support, education, and recreation therapy.
The local Alzheimer Society needs to fundraise over $400,000 a year to provide these services which have been adapted and have continued throughout COVID-19.
