Are you looking for a new career or interested in technology? Algoma University’s accelerated computer science program provides students with the opportunity to earn a computer science degree in 12 months. Algoma U is hosting an Information Night on March 13 at 7 p.m. in room CC400 of the Essar Convergence Centre, for those interested in the accelerated degree program.
“The accelerated computer science program is perfect for recent grads or people looking for a career change,” said Brent Krmpotich, director of enrollment management at Algoma U. “Computer science graduates are in demand across all sectors of the economy. Data shows that computer science graduates have lower unemployment rates and higher earnings than most university and college graduates.”
Students who enrol in the program will study software development, android programming, data structures, database design, operating systems, networking, and more.
Classes begin on April 30 with courses offered in an accelerated format throughout the spring and summer terms. In the fall, students will choose from a variety of computer science courses offered in a traditional format. Successful students will complete the program in April 2019. Upon graduation, students will possess either a three-year Bachelor of Computer Science or a three-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
To be eligible for the program, students must possess a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field or a diploma in computer science.
