VIDEO: 'I will be bringing the Cup back to the Sault'

Hometown hockey hero Michael Amadio — who is bringing the Stanley Cup to town on July 19 — sat down for an exclusive interview on our 'Inside the Village' podcast

Expect a long line-up outside GFL Memorial Gardens next Wednesday.

Local hockey star Michael Amadio, a member of the NHL champion Las Vegas Golden Knights, is bringing the Stanley Cup home for the day on July 19.

As the city announced yesterday, Amadio will be at the Gardens signing autographs and posing for photos between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Admission is free, but fans are encouraged to get there early.

Amadio was a recent guest on Village Media’s Inside the Village podcast. The 27-year-old reminisced about the moment he hoisted the Cup for the first time, a very special phone call he made from the ice — and what it was like to be a young hockey player growing up in the Sault.

“It’s an awesome hockey community,” he said.
