PREP TIME FOR CIVIC SOCCER GIRLS

Joe Ceglie says his team isn't getting too caught up in its Ontario Cup quarter-final win of Sunday. Rather, the coach of the Pino's under-19 girls Civic soccer team is focusing on the Ontario Cup semis, which will be played in Markham on Aug. 25. "We've got things we're working in practice. We're looking ahead, not behind us," said the veteran coach. Ceglie said that aside from a minor injury suffered by sweeper Shannon House in the quarter-final win over the Scarborough Predators, his team is healthy. House is one of several defensive-oriented players on the Pino's team. Others who excel at preventing the opposition from setting up its offence are Ali Bodnar, Melissa Ceglie, Jaclyn King and Amanda Tasz. When it comes time to shift into the offensive mode, Pino's can rely on the likes of Brigitte Acton, Lauren Catania, Julia Colizza and Tina DeGregorio to provide the motion. "We're a good mix of offence and defence," Ceglie noted. Looking ahead to the semi-finals in Markham, Ceglie said he is unsure of who his club will be facing. "Right now, we know nothing about who we'll be playing," he said. "That's okay. We're busy getting ourselves ready."
