The St. Mary's Knights will finish atop the standings and the St. Basil Saints will be at the bottom but that's all that's been decided heading into the final of week of the regular season in the local senior high school football league. St. Mary's is 4-0 and St. Basil is 0-4. But besides St. Mary's, only the 3-1 Bawating Braves are assured of a playoff spot. Three teams are battling for the other two playoff spots from among the Sir James Dunn Eagles and White Pines Wolverines, who are both 2-2, and the 1-3 Korah Colts. Interestingly, if Korah beats White Pines on Thursday (7:30 p.m. at Rocky DiPietro Field) and should Bawating beat the Dunn (4 p.m. on Friday), the Colts, Wolverines and Eagles would all be tied at 2-3. Should that happen, one team would get third place based on points-for-and-against differential and the other two teams would square off for the fourth-and-final playoff spot. The regular season concludes this week with the Korah-White Pines game on Thursday, the Dunn-Bawating match up on Friday and a second Friday game (7:30 p.m.) between St. Mary's and St. Basil.
