After initially having the start time of their first game of a weekend series on the road against Michigan Tech pushed back as they awaited COVID-19 testing results, the Lake Superior State Lakers will have the weekend off after the results led to the postponement of both weekend games.

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association made the announcement shortly after 5 p.m. Friday that the weekend series between the two schools was being postponed “due to recent COVID-19 testing results within the Lake Superior State hockey program.”

The games will be rescheduled.

The league had initially announced on Friday morning that Friday’s game between the two schools, which was originally scheduled for 6:07 p.m., would be pushed back an hour “to allow for more time for the return of COVID-19 tests within the Lake Superior State program.”

In the meantime, Michigan Tech will play a pair of non-conference games against Northern Michigan University to fill the open weekend.
