Jeff Jackson to be inducted into LSSU Sports Hall of Fame
SAULT STE. MARIE - Former Lake Superior State hockey coach Jeff Jackson's induction into the LSSU Sports Hall of Fame will be held in conjunction with the annual Soo BlueLiners Golf Outing during the weekend of July 10-11.
Jackson, currently the head hockey coach at the University of Notre Dame, led the Lakers to six straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 1990-96 and national titles in 1992 and '94. He also guided the Lakers to two Central Collegiate Hockey Association regular-season titles and four CCHA Playoff championships.
The induction dinner for Jackson will be Friday, July 10, at the LSSU Cisler Center. A cocktail reception begins at 7 p.m., followed by a dinner at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person or $15 for anyone participating in the golf outing the following day.
The 18-hole Soo BlueLiners golf scramble, which benefits Laker hockey, begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, at the Sault Country Club. The entry fee is $75 per person for Soo BlueLiners members or $85 for non-members. LSSU students pay only $35. The golf tournament includes door prizes, an auction, lunch on the course and dinner.
