Two Sault firms, IDEA Inc. and Tulloch Engineering, are expected to win a joint $236,000 contract Monday for planning, design, tendering and contract administration involved in relocating the downtown transit terminal to 111 Huron St.

David Ellis Architect and IBI Group also submitted a joint proposal to the city.

Both proposals arrived after the Oct. 18 deadline.

The city's purchasing department considered that an irregularity, but "it was decided under these current circumstances the submitted bids will be accepted," said Karen Marlow, manager of purchasing.

The project got the go-ahead from City Council on July 12, 2021.

Councillors will be asked to award the contract to the IDEA/Tulloch partnership at their meeting on Monday.

The meeting will be livestreamed on SooToday starting at 4:30 p.m.
