************************* Steelback Brewery wins big at the 2007 Ontario Brewing Awards TORONTO, ONTARIO -(April 4, 2007) - Everyone knows if you ever want to get Frank D'Angelo CEO of Steelback Brewery to talk just ask him about the 11 beers Steelback Brewery has crafted and introduced in the past three years.
What you may not have known however is that Steelback beer has quietly been doing a little talking of its own by garnering numerous awards for both its craftsmanship and taste.
Most noticeably at the 2007 Ontario Brewing Awards this past week.
"I've always said Steelback Brewery produces great beer. And I'm not just saying that because it's my brewery." boasted an obviously elated D'Angelo. "The judges have spoken and Steelback is officially what I've always said it is: premium Canadian beer."
Medal winners for Steelback Brewery included silver and bronze in the lager category for Steelback Red and Silver respectively.
Gold in the dark lager category for Tiverton Bear Dark Lager and gold for Tiverton Bear Honey Brown.
And the competition for these categories was far from weak, boasting some of the province's most decorated breweries and micro-breweries.
"These guys are no slouches. Ontario is known around the world for having some of the finest brewed beer anywhere." said D'Angelo. "And now Steelback is right up there with them. I feel like a proud father."
Steelback Brewery is a private company based in Tiverton, Ontario where it brews eleven distinct brands of premium quality beer: Copperhead Pilsner, Bruce Country Wild, Steelback Thunder, Steelback Silver, Steelback Red, Steelback Draught, Tiverton Bear Honey Brown, Tiverton Bear Dark Lager, Chain, Link Light and Tango.
It is the first brewery in Canada to use innovative packaging methods such as shatterproof bottles and large format cans with full "body sleeve" labels.
