Do you remember way back at the start of March when the month came in like a lamb with quiet weather and above freezing temperatures? Well, folklore suggests that when March comes in like a lamb, it will go out like a lion and that just what we are going to see over this Easter weekend to end this month.
This Saturday, the last day of March, is likely to see a weather system move through that could bring over 10cm of snow. The standing record high snowfall amount for any March 31 in the Sault is 6.2cm, and we are likely to break that and might even double that amount. Behind the snow, it looks like April starts out colder than normal.
A mix of clouds and sun moves in Friday to start the Easter weekend. There is a chance that we might see the odd flurry as temperatures linger around the freezing mark.
Widespread snow arrives Saturday with 8-12cm of accumulation likely. Winds will be gusting out of the east in the morning and swing around to the west in the afternoon. With temperatures a few degrees above the freezing mark expect it to be a slushy mess.
Sunday will see cloud cover and colder than normal temperatures. Daytime highs will be around -4°C and a gusty west wind will make it feel more like -10°C.
The cold air hangs on into all of next week with more chances of snow.
