Our Village keeps on growing.

Village Media, the local news company that operates this community website, has added another Ontario news source to its roster: FlamboroughToday.com.

Launched this morning, FlamboroughToday is Village Media’s 23rd owned-and-operated local news outlet in the province, joining nearby sites BurlingtonToday, HaltonHillsTodayCambridgeToday, GuelphToday and the recently acquired Oakville News.

Village also operates The Trillium, the largest team of Queen's Park journalists covering provincial politics and policy at the Ontario Legislature.

“We are thrilled to be in Flamborough, a district of Hamilton where people care deeply about the news and events happening around them,” says Jeff Elgie, the CEO of Village Media. “We have an amazing team in place and we’re looking forward to showing local residents why they should turn to us first for breaking news and deeper coverage of their community.”

The editor of FlamboroughToday is Brenda Jefferies, an award-winning journalist and lifelong resident of Waterdown who covered local news for 17 years at the now-shuttered Flamborough Review. Joining her on the team is Cara Nickerson, a talented reporter who started her career at Hamilton Community News and most recently worked as a reporter, writer and producer at CBC.

“When done with purpose and passion, local journalism has the power to connect communities like nothing else can,” says Michael Friscolanti, Editor-in-Chief at Village Media. “We introduce you to fascinating neighbours and celebrate local triumphs, but we also ask the tough questions and hold decision-makers to account. When local news thrives, everyone benefits.”

Born digital, Village Media boasts a growing network of more than 140 owned-and-operated and partner websites in Canada and the United States — each one committed to strengthening the community it serves. Free to everyone, our local news sites are designed to be super-fast and easy to navigate, whether you’re on a phone, computer or tablet.

Most importantly, every Village Media site is a trusted source of reliable, hyper-local journalism and other important information, including weather reports, obituaries and classifieds.
