******************* Truck overturns leaving two dead

(South Porcupine, ON) - Members of the South Porcupine Detachment of the OPP were called to attend the scene of a single motor vehicle collision shortly after 8 a.m. which saw a pickup truck with two male occupants leave Highway 144 at the Tatachikapika River bridge.

Investigators at the scene report the southbound pickup truck left the roadway just north of the Tatachikapika River and traveled down the embankment into the river where it overturned trapping the two male occupants inside.

Members of the Timmins Fire Department cold water rescue unit were called to assist in the extrication of the two occupants who were transported to the Timmins and District Hospital where they were pronounced dead upon arrival.

Names of both parties are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A technical traffic collision investigator with the OPP was also called in to assist with the investigation.
