Tenaris will be providing scholarships to students entering the new Bachelor of Engineering - Mechatronics program when it officially launches at Sault College in September.

Four scholarships, valued at $8,000 each, will be awarded to incoming students through the Tenaris Roberto Rocca Education Program over the next four years as the result of a partnership between Sault College and Tenaris. The scholarships will renew annually for recipients who remain enrolled in the degree program and maintain an average of 65 per cent.

“The new Bachelor of Engineering Mechatronics program is so exciting to our college, and an opportunity for learners to gain knowledge and skills in mechanical, electrical and computer engineering,” said David Orazietti, dean of aviation, trades, technology, business and environment at Sault College. “Our graduates will be prepared for highly skilled careers in fields such as advanced manufacturing, energy, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.”

“When we look at this program as a whole, coupled with today’s scholarship announcement, we see the larger picture, the value of this program and the far-reaching benefits that will positively impact our learners, partners, community, and of course, our local economy.”

Sault College is currently undergoing $4 million in renovations to house the Bachelor of Engineering - Mechatronics program, which will be offered in partnership with Humber College.

“We are adding a lot of technology - we need people much better prepared. I think that this career has a very good fit with our needs, and of course in the future, we are going to give some priority to the graduates from Sault College,” Tenaris Canada President Ricardo Prosperi told reporters following the announcement.

Sault College has received 15 applications for the new engineering program to date. Information on how to apply can be found on the college's website.
