A small wildland fire north of Wawa is the latest blaze reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

Wawa 6 is 1 hectare in size and currently under control 2km north of Moonlight Lake.

The Ministry is reporting a total of 14 active fires in the northeast region of the province. 

Of the fires, 10 are in the Cochrane sector, all of which are being held at this point.

There are also a pair of fires in the Wawa sector, both under control as of the latest report, and two more in the Sudbury sector, both of which are being held.

The fire hazard across the region ranges from low to high depending on the location.
