A small fire in a ventilation fan caused the temporary evacuation of the Post Office on Queen Street East this morning, says Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services.

Platoon chief Jeff Lajoie said the fan, located in the basement, produced a small amount of smoke and was quickly brought under control.

Workers in the building evacuated as a precaution, but were allowed back into the building shortly after.
