It was a sunny but freezing (-22C, to be exact) day Saturday, when over 120 snowmobilers rode 160 km in support of children with physical disabilities at the 46th Snowarama for Easter Seals Kids. Together, with the help of our generous community, they raised $40,111.37 for Easter Seals Ontario, $6,000.00 of which was brought in by Art House who earned his third plaque in a row on the George Willis Trophy for top fundraisers.

“Once again our volunteer base pulled together to host an amazingly successful event for a lot of very generous people that worked hard to improve the lives of others and had fun doing it,” shared Landon Odom, Rotarian and chair of Snowarama, “Thank you to everyone involved and I look forward to seeing all of you and a few new riders at next year’s Snowarama event for Easter Seals!”

The event was made possible by the Sault Trailblazers Snowmobile Club and their tireless efforts opening the trails. Riders enjoyed a hot breakfast at Park Grille, a bon fire in the morning, and lunch at Searchmont Community Centre. Thanks to the support of local businesses, over $2,000 worth of prizes were distributed to participating riders who raised over $150.

The next event in the area will be the Snowarama for Easter Seals Kids in Bruce Mines on Feb. 22, which will include a swap meet and children’s activities in the morning hosted by the Bruce Mines Sno Glyders Snowmobile Club. More information can be found at www.snowarama.org.
