While the official amount wasn't announced, the Sault Area Hospital Foundation is getting a donation that will be over seven figures.

In a release issued this afternoon, Sault Area Hospital announced a donation from Alamos Gold Inc. and Franco-Nevada, which is going to be north of $1 million.

The donation is said to be "aligned to a future need in the medical imaging department."

Details on the donation are to be announced this summer and the donation will be recognized with "a unit naming recognition display with branded story panel in the medical imaging department."

A spokesperson for the hospital said the reason the official total wasn't announced was that "it could compromise the hospital's competitive procurement process for medical equipment."
