Sault’s downtown plaza now equipped to save your life

Thanks to a donation from Tenaris, the plaza boasts a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Save Station for use during a potential cardiac emergency

Sault Ste. Marie’s downtown plaza is getting a life-saving device.

Thanks to a donation from Tenaris, a new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Save Station will ensure quick and easy access during a cardiac emergency.

AEDs offer immediate assistance, which increases the chances of survival.

The portable device can be found in a free-standing tower and has climate control to ensure functionality year-round. The station will be regularly maintained so the AED will always be ready when needed.

“The AED Save Station is a critical resource that enhances the safety and well-being of our community and can make a critical difference in emergencies. We hope this will provide peace of mind to residents and visitors alike,” said Health and Safety Coordinator David McAuley in a news release.

McAuley added they are grateful to Tenaris for their donation.

“The AED is a resource that can help save a life in the event of an emergency. As a member and partner of the Sault community, where our employees live and work, we are proud to support with the donation and installation of a critical device in a gathering place that is accessible to the public,” said Tenaris’ Health, Safety, and Environment Director Gianluca Greco.

AEDs can also be found in several other city facilities including the GFL Memorial Gardens, John Rhodes, Northern Community Centre, Active 55+ Living Centre, and the Civic Centre.
