Kris Valley of Sault Ste. Marie won the $372,870 August jackpot in the Health Sciences North 50/50.

A Sault Ste. Marie man was the big winner of the August jackpot in the Health Sciences North 50/50 Cash Lottery for the North.

Kristopher Valley held the winning ticket (No. AY-99799771) for the August draw, taking home $372,870 in the process.

"Every lottery ticket purchased this month represents a step forward in building a healthier future for our community," Anthony Keating, the head of Foundations and Volunteer Groups at HSN, said in a news release. "These funds are instrumental in purchasing life-saving equipment, funding leading-edge research and driving critical advancements for the future healthcare needs of people living in Northeastern Ontario, benefiting vulnerable populations like seniors, children, and those facing mental health and addiction challenges."

Tickets for the September draw are on sale now. The jackpot is growing, plus early birds qualify for $29,000 in early bird prizes.

All prize deadlines are at 11:59 p.m. the day before the draw takes place.

The jackpot is updated online in real-time and continues to grow as more people buy tickets. Each month half of the total ticket sales support priority equipment purchases, funding leading edge research, and supporting the future health care needs, the foundation said in a news release.

Residents across Ontario over the age of 18 can purchase tickets for a chance to win.

The September jackpot will be drawn Sept. 27 at 10 a.m. and posted online at HSN5050.ca. Lottery license #RAF1386173.
