Snow squall watch in effect for:
- Agawa - Lake Superior Park
- Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay
Snow squalls from Lake Superior are possible overnight through Tuesday afternoon.
Hazards:
Total snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm by Tuesday afternoon over a few areas.
Reduced visibility due to heavy snow.
Timing:
Overnight through Tuesday afternoon.
Discussion:
Snow squalls may redevelop over Lake Superior overnight and are expected to move eastward over parts of Highway 17. Snowfall amounts up to 20 cm are possible.
Snow squalls are expected to gradually weaken Tuesday afternoon; however, additional snowfall is expected Tuesday night as a low pressure system approaches the area. Additional amounts with this system of 5 to 10 cm are possible.
Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.
Snow squall watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the formation of bands of snow that could produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibilities.
