Residents evacuated following natural gas leak

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded shortly after 4 p.m. Friday

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to a report of a natural gas leak in the area of Birch Street and Cedar Street shortly after 4 p.m. Friday. 

Approximately 50 residents living nearby were evacuated as a result of the leak. The smell of natural gas was apparent in the neighbourhood when SooToday arrived on scene. 

Enbridge Gas has been notified.
