The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Ballistic Armoured Tactical Transport (BATT) vehicle, with a total of eight officers, apprehended a local man in the downtown district’s Brock and Albert parking lot Friday afternoon.

All for a charitable cause, however.

The Sault’s Leo Moore was surprised, with the help of Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) staff, into joining police for a Cartime Karaoke segment.

Cartime Karaoke segments are produced with Moore as host and driver, the segments a fundraising prelude to ARCH’s Dragonfly Day, to be held June 17.

Funds are raised through each Karaoke team donating $80 to ARCH.

Each team chooses a song to perform while Moore drives.

The segments are recorded with a GoPro.

Approximately 30 Cartime Karaoke segments are currently available for viewing on the ARCH website, Facebook page and YouTube, said Julie Premo, ARCH manager of support services, speaking to SooToday.

Great Lakes Honda has supplied ARCH with the Cartime Karaoke vehicle used in the segments produced so far.

It isn’t yet known which song Sault Police decided to perform, Premo told SooToday Friday afternoon.

“We’re well over 100,000 views with Cartime Karaoke, so this is something our community’s enjoying, and it keeps growing and growing,” Premo said.

“Our goal is that this keeps growing, it’s fun and there’s a lot of talent in our city.”

A crew from SooToday recently produced a Cartime Karaoke segment for ARCH.

More details on Cartime Karaoke and ARCH’s Dragonfly Day may be found on the ARCH website and Facebook.
