After stating yesterday that the Blind River emergency department would be closed on Friday due to a physician shortage, the North Shore Health Network (NSHN) announced today that the closure has been “averted.”
“NSHN would like to thank the community for your continued patience and understanding as we work with our partners towards sustainable resources to serve your healthcare needs,” says a release from NSHN.
Over the past week, NSHN has announced three emergency department closures at its Thessalon site – one of three regional emergency rooms – due to staffing issues.
Village Media sat down recently with Timothy Vine, CEO of the North Shore Health Network, to discuss the dire state of health care in the area. You can watch the Inside the Village episode here.
