OPP investigating fatal overnight crash on Manitoulin Island

Police responded to the single-vehicle crash shortly after midnight; 53-year-old driver pronounced dead at the scene

Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened overnight.

Shortly after 12 a.m. today, police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Silver Lake Road in Robinson Township on Manitoulin Island.

The driver, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not released the driver's identity, saying only that the person was a 53-year-old from Dawson Township.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the North East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team.
