A lithium ion battery has been determined as the cause of a house fire that broke out early this morning on Copernicus Drive.

Crews responded to the semi-detached home shortly after 1:30 a.m., says a news release issued by Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services. Smoke was visible upon arrival.

The home sustained significant fire and smoke damage and one person was taken to hospital with injuries as a result of the blaze.
