Nominations open for Crime Stoppers Heroes of Service Awards

Event, dedicated to recognizing the dedication, bravery, and service of individuals who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe, takes place May 14

Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District has announced the 2025 Heroes of Service Awards - a special event dedicated to recognizing the dedication, bravery, and service of individuals who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

This year, Crime Stoppers is excited to expand the scope of recognition beyond law enforcement to include fire services, paramedics, probation and parole officers, and youth justice professionals, alongside returning peace officers.

Members of the following organizations are invited to nominate someone they work with who they feel has gone above and beyond in their service:

  • Sault Ste. Marie Police Service
  • Ontario Provincial Police
  • Canada Border Services Agency
  • Anishinabek Police Service
  • Batchewana Police Service
  • Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry
  • Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police
  • Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services (New in 2025)
  • Sault Ste. Marie Paramedic Services (New in 2025)
  • Algoma EMS (New in 2025)
  • Volunteer Fire Departments (New in 2025)
  • Donald Doucet Youth Centre (New in 2025)
  • Probation and Parole Services (New in 2025)

Nominations are due by April 15 and the awards ceremony takes place May 14.

Crime Stoppers of Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District is proud to announce the 2025 Heroes of Service Awards, presented by The SIS Group, a special event dedicated to recognizing the dedication, bravery, and service of individuals who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

The Heroes of Service Awards will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at The Grand Gardens North. This year, Crime Stoppers is excited to expand the scope of recognition beyond law enforcement to include fire services, paramedics, probation and parole officers, and youth justice professionals, alongside returning peace officers.

“As we celebrate 40 years of Crime Stoppers in Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District, we are thrilled to rebrand our annual awards and recognize even more of the incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to public safety,” said Michael Goodship, Chair/Treasurer with Crime Stoppers.

Organizations Invited to Participate

Crime Stoppers has extended invitations to a wide range of organizations, encouraging them to take part by nominating individuals who have gone above and beyond in their service. Invited organizations include:

Each invited agency will have the opportunity to select its own honouree and submit a nomination letter and a photo of the recipient by April 15, 2025, and present the award to the recipient the evening of May 14, 2025.
