Navy League Cadet Corps enjoys expo weekend full of activities

Cadets take part in snowmobiling, marksmanship, highland dance, and meet OPP K9 unit

The Navy League Cadet Corps. Newman's 2nd annual expo weekend offered cadets a unique opportunity to engage with their community in a variety of ways.

The cadets embarked on a snowmachining adventure alongside Sault Search and Rescue, RCMP and Sault Ste Marie Police, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.

They also received lessons on water safety from the RCMP and even got a taste of highland dance thanks to the Air and Army Cadets.

"The OPP's K9 canine stole the show with a captivating presentation, leaving everyone in awe," organizers of the event said in a release.

Day 2 brought more action-packed activities, including marksmanship training under the guidance of senior Corps members, seamanship activities and a session on corrections.

NLCC Newman's Navy league program, held every Friday at the Sault Ste Marie Armouries, continues to welcome youth aged 9-12 for a range of engaging naval-themed activities, shaping future leaders and fostering a sense of community pride. The program is free of charge and has lots of activities to offer such as band, drill, naval knowledge, friends for life, leadership opportunities, outdoor activities and  more.
