One of the community's largest career events will be taking place at Sault College on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 from 12 to 5 p.m. in the Health and Wellness Centre.

This year's Job and Career fair will be attended by more than 50 employers who are hiring. These employers represent a variety of employment sectors including: trades, government, public service, financial, healthcare, social services, natural environment and retail.

The Job and Career fair offers a unique opportunity for job seekers to meet local employers in person. “Face-to-face contact with an employer is crucial for a couple of reasons. First, it gives the employer an opportunity to assess whether someone is the right “fit” for their organization based on the way they conduct and carry themselves. Second, it provides the job seeker with the opportunity to make a memorable impression on the employer," says Ray Corcoran, Student Employment Officer, Sault College Student Job Centre.

"This type of information can only be gathered by a face-to-face interaction and often cannot be uncovered in a resume. Employers prefer to hire people they know and a career fair creates an environment where job seekers can network and learn more about these organizations.”

Consultants from Sault College’s Employment Solutions, which is funded by Employment Ontario, will also be available to provide information on employment services and programs accessible to job seekers.

Need help preparing for the Sault College Job and Career Fair? Drop in to Sault College Employment Solutions, 421 Bay St. (Station Tower) 4th Floor, between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to meet with a consultant.

This event is sponsored by the Sault College Student Job Centre and Employment Solutions. Admission to the event is free for all community members as well as all Sault College students and alumni. Free parking is available in the visitor lot off the Willow Avenue entrance. Overflow metered parking will be available off of Northern Avenue or in the Willow Avenue lot.
