Kinross Correctional Facility has confirmed that the prisoner who died during today's escape attempt was 30-year-old Seth Privacky, who was convicted at the age of 18 for the shooting deaths of his parents, brother, his brother's girlfriend and his grandfather in Muskegon, Michigan on November 29, 1998.

The following statements about today's escape bid and fatal shooting were issued today by the Michigan Department of Corrections.
************************* 2 p.m. update
The three prisoners who attempted to escape were Andrew Ross #504582, Brian Davidson #458405, and Seth Privacky #289400.
Prisoner Privacky was shot and killed during the escape attempt.
The employee has been treated and released.
His name will not be released at this time.
Staff from the Kinross Correctional Facility as well as local law enforcement agencies have secured the perimeter and the Michigan Department of Corrections emergency response team is on the scene and helping to secure the inside of the facility.
The Michigan State Police in coordination with the Michigan Department of Corrections will be heading the investigation.
A news conference has been tentatively scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the human resources building at Kinross Correctional Facility.

At 9:10 a.m. on July 15, Kinross Correctional Facility experienced an escape.
Three prisoners hijacked a Michigan State industry semi and rammed the fence.
They made it through the fence and were immediately apprehended by staff.
One of the prisoners was shot in the process of trying to escape.
The prisoner was killed in the attempt.
More details will be released pending notification of next of kin.
One staff member sustained superficial injuries.
The fence has been secured and all staff and prisoners are accounted for.
