Man dies in Eastern Upper Peninsula snowmobile crash

Sled left the trail and impacted several trees, say police

On Sunday at about 3 p.m., Luce County Sheriff's Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel responded to the area of County Road 421 in Columbus Township for a single-unit snowmobile crash.

Upon arrival, it was discovered that a 37-year-old Gladwin man had gone off the trail and hit several trees. The man sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff's department was assisted by Luce County EMS and Michigan State Police.

The crash is still under investigation, a news release said.
