A special reading of the play 1939 at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion will explore Indigenous perspectives on Shakespeare.

1939 was written by Jani Lauzon and Kaitlyn Riordan, with contributions from elder and survivor Shirley Horn. The play delves into significant historical narratives and promises an engaging experience for the audience.

A Survivor-led group is presenting the play in support of the Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association (CSAA), in partnership with NORDIK Institute’s Community Support Team, YES Theatre, the City of Sault Ste. Marie and partners at Algoma University. The events will take place at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion on June 1 and 2.
