SAULT STE. MARIE — In a heartfelt effort to uplift communities in Ontario, McDougall Energy has donated $86,000 to local charities dedicated to fighting food insecurity and providing gifts for children, families, individuals, and newcomers this holiday season. This generous contribution reflects the company's commitment to making a positive impact in the regions it has served for over 75 years.
According to Food Banks Canada, monthly food bank visits in Canada exceeded 2 million in 2024, marking a staggering 90 per cent increase since 2019. With Ontario reporting the highest usage rates among Canadians, financial and volunteer support is essential to meet the urgent and growing need. McDougall Energy's donations aim to alleviate the financial pressures faced by charities during the holiday season while fostering long-term partnerships that address the root causes of hunger.
