A Kitchener driver was charged Tuesday after East Algoma OPP received numerous traffic complaints about a heavily damaged tractor trailer travelling eastbound on Highway 17.
A news release issued by OPP says that responding officers stopped the vehicle in Blind River and "determined the driver had slid sideways and hit a rock cut on Highway 17 somewhere between Wawa and Sault Ste. Marie."
The collision was not reported to police.
As a result of this investigation, the 50-year-old driver was charged with:
• Drive commercial motor vehicle with major defect in it or in drawn vehicle
• Insecure load
• Fail to report motor vehicle accident
The damaged vehicle was removed from the road and taken to a Blind River area parking lot.
