Greenfield residents embrace holidays with street party (12 photos)

The neighbourhood’s 3rd annual holiday celebration brought residents together for a barbeque, parade, and fireworks show

There aren’t many neighbourhoods like the Greenfield subdivision.

Well over 100 residents from Chatfield Drive, Konkin Avenue, Greenfield Drive, and Beaumont Avenue came together for the area’s 3rd annual holiday street party Saturday night.

The festivities included a barbeque, parade, and fireworks show, and plenty of familiar favourites stopped by like Santa Claus, the Grinch, and Sparky from the fire department.

Organizers Alex Seabrook and Meagan Figures were thrilled with how this year’s event played out.

“It keeps growing and getting bigger each year,” Seabrook says. “There are so many young kids in the neighbourhood, so it’s something for them to look forward to.”

“Everyone looks forward to it,” Figures adds.

In 2020, the subdivision put on a COVID-friendly Christmas parade after the city was forced to cancel theirs.

Since then, Greenfield has hosted several events and gatherings that organizers say has brought their little community closer together.

“We’ve gotten to meet a lot of people in our neighbourhood this way,” Figures says. “Apparently, some people move into our subdivision because of events like this.”

Organizers also raised money for the Soup Kitchen by placing a donation bin near the event’s big Christmas tree.
