Former Greyhound Joseph Raaymakers faces stunt driving charges after Chatham-Kent OPP clocked a car doing more than 180 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Highway 401 near Chatham.

OPP says police were engaged in a radar enforcement on the highway near Kent Bridge Road around 1 a.m. on April 14 when they observed a westbound vehicle driving well over the posted speed limit.

Raaymakers, who is from Chatham, is scheduled to appear in court in Chatham and face the charges against him on May 23.

His driver’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle he was driving impounded for seven days.

If convicted, Raaymakers could face a $2,000 to $10,000 fine, six demerit points, up to six months jail and/or up to two years licence suspension.

The Hounds traded him to the London Knights in October 2017.

Global news says the Knights organization is aware of the incident is still gathering information.

Chatham-Kent OPP officers say they would like to remind drivers that stunt driving or racing is one of the most serious and reckless forms of aggressive driving, and it puts everyone on the road at serious risk of injury or death.
