UPDATE: Sault firefighters battle two separate trailer blazes

Black smoke from the second fire on Cathcart Street could be seen from a distance as flames from the trailer spread to an adjacent standalone garage

Sault firefighters responded to two separate trailer fires in the city's core on Friday afternoon.

In the first call, crews were dispatched to a garage and trailer fire on Toronto Street, at Alexandra Street.

The fire was close to a gas meter on an adjacent home.

A police forensics van was at the scene and the surrounding streets were closed to traffic until an all-clear was sounded.

Shortly after, firefighters were called to a trailer behind a Cathcart Street residence, near James Street.

Black smoke from the fire could be seen from a distance and the flames from the trailer spread to the adjacent standalone garage.

SooToday will provide more information on these incidents as it becomes available.
