NEWS RELEASE
SAULT FIRE SERVICES
*******************
On Saturday, May 16, 2020, the imposed restricted fire zone, inclusive of the municipality of Sault Ste. Marie, was lifted.

Sault Fire Services would like to remind all citizens to continue burn with caution and follow the provisions of the Open-Air Burning for the Municipality of Sault Ste. Marie. Only those with a valid fire permit will be permitted to burn.

Since the ban was lifted, higher than normal call volumes have inundated phone lines, which has resulted in longer wait times. Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services is now renewing and issuing permits online. To obtain or renew your permit online, please visit: www.saultstemarie.ca/BurnPermits

Permits can still be issued and renewed by phone with a valid credit card. Please contact: (705) 949–3333 during regular office hours of 9:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. Please be patient while staff fulfills each request.

Certified propane and natural gas fire pits, fireplaces, and/or fire tables do not require an open-air burning permit.

For more information with respect to Open-Air Burning in Sault Ste. Marie, please contact Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services or visit www.saultstemarie.ca/BurnPermits.
