The Ontario Finnish Resthome Association and Foundation are getting ready for its "Grand Parade," an annual event that raises money to support the local facility.

A year ago, the event raised $65,500 and this year's goal is $75,000, which will go toward new dining room chairs and common area furniture.

Going into the event, 63 per cent of the fundraising goal has already been met.

Ways to get involved in the event include:

  • becoming a Team Captain and recruiting family, friends, colleagues, etc. to fundraise and walk with you,
  • joining a team and fundraising or,
  • donating to a team or to a walker

Registration will take place at 721 North St. with complimentary coffee and pulla (Finnish coffee bread). The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and there will be various stops and activities along the way.
