Algoma District School Board (ADSB) trustees will hear details about an exciting renovation and partnership plan involving White Pines Secondary School at their next Board meeting, according to ADSB senior administration. Director of Education, Lucia Reece, provided a “teaser” of information at Tuesday’s meeting, noting: “We are so excited that it has been hard, even for us, to wait to reveal information, but be assured that next meeting, on Oct. 26, we expect to share not only our plan, but to reveal some exciting partnerships that are just being finalized. We couldn’t be more pleased about the upcoming renovations, enhancements and partnerships for our technical and trades programs, as it has been a long-time vision of ADSB to do something unique in these areas.”
Superintendent of Business & Operations, Joe Santa Maria, echoed the excitement about the project which will include unique partnerships. “We have listened intently to our community partners who are experiencing significant challenges with filling jobs, due to a shortage of skilled workers in the trades. With this project, we will provide exciting new spaces and learning opportunities for students while creating more potential pathways to employment beyond our schools.”
Trustees will receive more detailed information, including a guest presentation from one of the prominent partners, at the upcoming meeting on Oct. 26, 2021.
