As snow squalls continue, the city reminds drivers to remain cautious and drive according to conditions, leaving a safe distance for heavy equipment operators to clear and sand roadways safely and efficiently.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie also provided the following updates:

  • Waste Collection: There is no garbage and recycling collection today. Today’s collection is postponed to next Friday. Residents affected by the delay may place additional bags for collection next week. Please remove bins from the curb to assist in snow removal efforts. The landfill is open.
  • Transit: Transit routes are experiencing delays, and Parabus service may have difficulties accessing unplowed parking lots. Please remain patient.
  • Snow clearing efforts: Road clearing will continue throughout the day as possible. Main roads have had multiple passes, however drifting snow has formed. Not all sidewalks are cleared at this time. Public Works continues to deploy all available crews and equipment to keep up with the falling snow and ice formation. Arterial and collector roads are prioritized, followed by residential streets.

To support efficient snow removal, vehicles must not block sidewalks and avoid parking on city streets. Residents are reminded that the snow plowed to the end of their driveway during a significant snow event is their responsibility and may be more than usual.
