Downtown badasses its brand

A bold new logo and branding were approved tonight by the Downtown Association

A new logo approved tonight by Sault Ste. Marie's Downtown Association combines heritage and modernity with bold, geometric shapes and vintage-inspired colour palette.

At least, that's how the logo's designers describe it.

"The logo conveys strength, approachability and charm," says Accretive, the marketing company owned by Village Media -- which also owns SooToday.

"A small maple leaf at the bottom is a subtle nod to local pride and Canadian identity."

"I'm quite happy with it," said Nicholas Rosset, the business group's chair.

"It's fresh and bold and distinct. The plan is to utilize it for all of our communications . . . brand image and messaging.

"Hopefully the city can work with us to implement that logo in our wayfinding and other signage downtown," Rosset said.
